Changes. 2009 brought a few with it. One of the most noticeable is the change of our name. The state legislature officially changed the name of our agency, as it did in all 88 of Ohio’s counties. In October our name dropped “mental retardation” and we became the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Our mission remains the same, “Partnering with the community by using available resources to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

Our vision is a community focused on possibilities. Individuals with developmental disabilities bring tremendous assets to our community. Our community supports individuals with developmental disabilities living their lives here. In order to maintain supports and services in our community the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities has set out the following goals.

Fiscal Sustainability: The PCBDD will manage it’s resources in order to provide sustainable services without undue burden on the taxpayers.

Customer Focused: The PCBDD will be a customer focused organization. Our customers include not only individuals with disabilities and their families but also individuals and agencies in our community who are active in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities as well as the taxpayers who provide the financial resources for services.

Process Management: The PCBDD will be driven by processes which seek to continually improve services offered.

Business Development: The PCBDD will provide sustainable employment for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Together we can be a community that sees possibilities rather than disabilities.
